Foxconn and WEDC partner to showcase Wisconsin companies at the first China International Import Expo

By: Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation

Shanghai, China – Foxconn Technology Group (Foxconn) and the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) have partnered to support the participation of ten innovative Wisconsin companies in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE), a major global business development initiative taking place from November 5 to 10 in Shanghai. The partnership is in line with Foxconn’s commitment to the state of Wisconsin and the WEDC’s commitment to supporting the growth of Wisconsin businesses.

The Wisconsin firms will be featured as part of Foxconn Innovation Pavilion under its “Smart Future” theme. Their specialties include water technology, advanced machinery, healthcare, and smart city applications. The 5,300-square-foot exhibition area will host these Wisconsin companies and those operating within Foxconn’s international brand portfolio.

“The China International Import Expo is a unique opportunity to showcase the vast strengths of Wisconsin companies to a targeted broader audience including central, provincial and local government procurement officials. As Foxconn contributes to the transformation of Wisconsin into an international tech hub, we are eager to deepen awareness of Wisconsin innovation around the world,” said Louis Woo, Special Assistant to Foxconn CEO Terry Gou. “We are glad to partner with WEDC as we work to help transform Wisconsin into a global high-tech hub through our presence throughout the state.”

Foxconn is driving business opportunities for Wisconsin companies internationally and for global companies to invest in Wisconsin as it develops the supply chain that will support its Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park project.

The Foxconn Innovation Pavilion will promote many of the state’s key industries. One section will be dedicated to its four freshwater technology companies, which are well-positioned to contribute to China’s recent “Sponge Cities” initiative to improve the quality of urban water for millions around the country. The plan aims to utilize “blue” and “green” space in the urban environment for storm water management and control. Wisconsin’s efforts on this initiative are being led by WEDC and The Water Council, a Milwaukee-based organization that supports the global water industry.

Mark R. Hogan, Secretary and CEO of WEDC said: “With 150,000 expected attendees from more than 100 countries, the China International Import Expo will offer these Wisconsin businesses the potential to enter into new markets and develop new partnerships. We thank Foxconn for providing our Wisconsin companies with the opportunity to showcase the innovation taking place in our state and to demonstrate how the products made right here in Wisconsin could have a positive impact on the lives of the citizens of China.”

Eric Love, Chairman of STAR Water, one of the Wisconsin exhibitors, said: “The People’s Republic of China is already one of the largest markets in the world. Policy settings such as ‘Beautiful China’ and the Sponge Cities Program will further expand this market while improving the environment of China. Our company wishes to support China’s commitment to sustainability through the localization and supply of technology that can assist these fantastic environmental initiatives.”

The companies attending CIIE and exhibiting at the Foxconn Innovation Pavilion are: BioGill, BiologiQ, Black Rock Custom Stone Cutting, Dynex Hydraulics, Hong Seng, Inc., Inpro Corporation, Roving Blue Inc., SDMC America Technology, STAR Water LLC and Velicon. Representatives of WEDC, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and The Water Council also will be in attendance.

“Velicon is definitely planning to expand our sales in the Chinese market and we believe participation in the China Import Expo will provide us with exposure not only to the current markets and applications that we are catering to, but also to discrete equipment and component markets that are currently not known to us,” said Alex Edirisinghe, Program Manager at Velicon. “We are very thankful to Foxconn and WEDC for this opportunity.”

Roving Blue® is a proud sponsor of Cindy Todd’s Backpacking for Behcet’s Disease Awareness

Cindy will be traveling with a sponsored Roving Blue O-Pen™ Tactical Black portable water purification device in support of her cause. We asked Cindy to share a little of her background with us as she prepares for her adventure:

Cindy Todd, Backpacking for Behcet’s Disease Awareness and Suicide Prevention

Cindy: “OK, let me start out by saying that I have Behcet’s Disease (rare autoimmune disease). I also love backpacking! I go as often as my schedule allows. I love waking up to the sound of birds, opening my tent door to see the orange of the sunrise over mountain tops AND I love the solitude. All my problems seem so small when I’m enveloped by nature.

I also value the hardships that comes with this sort of isolative, physically and mentally painful exercise. After a couple days of isolation, your mind starts to rebel. After seeing countless trees, wildflowers, etc. your mind wants more. This is the best! Yes, I know many of you avid backpackers are saying “The best part! Are you crazy?!” But it’s true. It’s an amazing opportunity to practice quieting your mind. The first few backpacking trips I did, I spent a huge part of it struggling mentally. I was frustrated. But after each one, the time of mental agony, reduced. Now I don’t experience the mental struggle at all. I’m able to quiet my mind instantly.

I’ll be backpacking from South Lake (near Bishop, California) to Dusy Basin in the Sierra Nevada’s in 2.5 weeks. So excited! I love backpacking in the Sierra Nevada’s and talking to people on the trail about my cause and answering specific questions about Behcet’s Disease. I love the alpine lakes and how you’ll be in forest and suddenly all the trees fade away. It’s exhilarating and makes me feel free! I’m heading to Switzerland in October to do some unforgettable backpacking and the Salton Sea area in November.

I’m proud of my mission and hope there are a few more people that are aware of Behcet’s Disease!”

Roving Blue products named “Best of Show” in portable water purification category in upcoming retail sporting goods debut.

Two of the Wisconsin manufacturer’s products, the O-Pen™ and the Ozo-Pod™ 10  were highlighted by the organizers of the Nations Best Sports 2018 Fall Semi – Annual Market, Aug 28-31 at Fort Worth Convention Center, Fort Worth, Texas.

The O-Pen™ designed for hikers or travelers, will treat any clear surface or tap water with an advanced ozone technology. Ozone is far more powerful than chlorine, yet reverts to oxygen when it’s job is done, leaving no chemical residues or after-tastes.

See the Tactical Black O-Pen™ in action.

The Ozo-Pod™ 10, the company’s most versatile product, treats larger quantities of water.
Both products are dual purpose, they not only make clean water, they make”Water That Cleans™”.

“We are delighted and inspired for our water purification products to be recognized like this. This is our retail “Bricks and Mortar” debut into the sporting goods world. We chose NBS for this because of their long tradition of serving independently owned retailers.”
CEO- Marianna “Yana” DeMyer

NBS, Nation’s Best Sports is a nationwide sporting goods buying group. Established in 1956, the event highlights the latest products in Camping, Fishing, Hunting, Paddle & Water Sports, Apparel, and Accessories. ROVING BLUE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES PARTICIPATION IN US ARMY JOINT WARFIGHTING ASSESSMENTS

Roving Blue recently participated in the US Army’s Joint Warfighting Assessment in Hohenfels, Germany from April 30-May 10th. The purpose of these assessments are to field test emerging technologies and improve equipment in the soldiers’ hands, year over year, thus ensuring greater soldier survivability and efficiency in the field.

Amidst other technologies, Roving Blue was one of four water purification companies selected to participate in the exercises, which take two years of intense planning to execute. CEO Marianna “Yana” DeMyer and CFO James Gilmet attended the event to personally demonstrate the capabilities of the latest prototype water purification system, Roving Blue MVP-TK™ unit, an ozone-based small water purifier designed to both hydrate troops in mobile vehicles, while simultaneously providing a way to keep produced water pure via an ozone-circulation system called the Tank-Keeper™. This technology represents the latest advances in ozone generation in a tiny (under 25 lbs) system capable of producing the equivalent of a water bottle per minute (.5L) from freshwater surfaces.

During the field exercises the soldiers measured output and evaluated the unit on size, weight and power consumption. Roving Blue was by far the smallest, lightest and most efficient water system to participate.

For more information on the MVP-TK™ capabilities and other small water purifiers, please visit Roving Blue.

Roving Blue CEO Yana DeMyer to Speak at Water Leaders Summit 2017

WATER LEADERS SUMMIT 2017 – A SECURE FUTURE NEEDS WATER

May 23-24 | Milwaukee, Wisconsin USA | Register today

In a digital world, a chain-link fence and a padlock won’t secure your water system.

Water Leaders Summit 2017 is The Water Council’s headline event for the local, national and global water industry. Register to secure your spot to join us on May 23-24 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – Where Water Works – to connect with a diverse group of water leaders from around the world.

This year’s big idea is focused on water security and brings together thought-leaders at the heart of water security strategy. We’ll be thinking about and talking about security not as a defensive crouch, but as a creative tool. What does it mean to achieve water security? How do you make your community’s water future secure, for people and companies, for cities and for the environment? How do you develop smart, resilient water strategies to avoid water insecurity?

Back by popular demand, Charles Fishman, author of “The Big Thirst” and contributor for Fast Company, will lead provocative “story starters” followed by big idea conversations with water leaders from academia, non-profit organizations, private industry and government. Four plenary sessions will narrow in on: Cyber Security, Environmental Security, Diplomatic Security, and Organizational Security.

Water Leaders Summit 2017 is a collision point for professionals looking for new technology, talent, business growth opportunities, and inspiration. With 300+ targeted attendees, the Summit creates a channel for water professionals to discuss vital current global water issues and advance innovative solutions shaping the future of water technology and our world’s water crisis.

In honor of our 10th anniversary, we have revealed a new name for this special edition: Water Leaders Summit. The early years of the Summit generated awareness for the water technology cluster in Wisconsin. Since 2007, Milwaukee has grown into a magnet for the water industry and The Water Council has developed as a leader in water technology economic development thanks to strong industry, government, community, and academic support.

Check back often for new information.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Attendees come from all parts of the water cycle and from around the world. Last year delegates joined us from Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, France, Canada, and South Korea and from 20 US states. Corporate leaders, innovators, economic development specialists, water technologists, and students are encouraged to attend from:

  • Water Technology Businesses of all sizes and stages
  • Water & Wastewater Companies / Utilities

LOOKING BACK—WATER SUMMIT 2016: ESTABLISHING A WATER RESILIENT CITY

As communities near and far experience water shortages and contamination, the world is in need of innovative solutions to address the global water crisis. Cities are thinking about global risks and how to mitigate them, and rethinking urban planning strategies to strengthen resiliency. Utilities are confronted with aging infrastructure, toxic metals, and financial limitations. Companies and academic institutions are developing new water technologies at a rapid rate, and our future generation of water leaders are being trained in water-based careers.

Water Summit 2016 focused on developing a multi-dimensional approach that addresses water use and the investment in the development of new innovative products and solutions that will reinvent how we live and work with water. These topics and key players from all corners of the water space collided into four headlining conversations: resilient health, economics, infrastructure, and industry revolutions. This was the first year the Summit rolled-out a new conference format with 4 plenary sessions combining brief, provocative “story starters” followed by engaging conversations and it was well-liked by all attendees and speakers.

SUMMIT HISTORY

In July 2007, The Water Council convened the first Water Summit at Discovery World on the shores of Lake Michigan. Sixty individuals of various backgrounds attended – fulfilling the initial open, participatory forum that the organizer’s envisioned. Attendees from government, business, and education quickly recognized the potential of Milwaukee as a water industry cluster and began working to make it a reality.

It was decided at the first Water Summit that the Milwaukee region was equipped to take the lead in economic development, education and research across all aspects of water and the Summit was a platform to help generate awareness of Wisconsin’s water technology cluster. Our proximity to an abundant freshwater source, Lake Michigan, to world-class water research facilities and a cluster of companies focused on water technology and supporting freshwater as a human and natural resource through all stages of the water cycle, confirmed that Milwaukee was indeed a World Water Hub. Since 2007, the Water Summit has grown into a two-day event with access to hundreds of the world’s water industry thought-leaders and decision-makers.

Introducing the Next Generation of Roving Blue® Ozone Water Purification Innovation – the OZO-Pod™ 10

Tap into Purity™ with the Ozo-Pod 10™, which gives you the power of ozone to purify water in your own kitchen.

Available now. Click here to get yours today!

Ozonated water is Water That Cleans™”.  Whatever it comes into contact with becomes purified as well.

Even if you purchase organic vegetables, that doesn’t guarantee they are free of microbes.

Easy to use, the Ozo-Pod 10 will quickly bring 5 gallons of water up to 1PPM ozone concentration within minutes. That is a lethal level to almost any microbe that can make you sick.  Ozone also breaks down harmful long-chain molecules that are found in herbicides and pesticides.

Just pour water into a receptacle of your choice, place the pod so that it is completely submerged. Press the ON button and you are in business.  You will quickly find that the uses are endless. Imagine the possibilities:

  • Odiferous athletic gear
  • Vegetables from the farmer’s market
  • The kitchen sink/garbage disposal
  • Smelly sponges

The Ozo-pods are encased in stainless steel for a rugged yet elegant look for years of use, whether in the kitchen or at the campsite.  It utilizes an advanced method to produce ozone; (we make it out of water, not the air), so there are no air pumps or air stones, hence no moving parts to wear out or clog. A bonus feature is that most of the ozone stays in the water as a cloud as opposed to bubbling through – this will limit your exposure because ozone in higher concentrations is not good to breathe.

  • Ozone is approved by both the USDA and the FDA for use in purifying drinking water as well as for food processing.
  • Ozone is a highly germicidal form of oxygen (it is also called “O3” or “tri-oxygen”), in fact, it is stronger than chlorine.
  • Within minutes, ozone reverts back to oxygen, leaving no residue, so it is a truly “green” water purification method.
  • Ozone, unlike UV light, has the ability to remove “off” tastes and odors.

100% no-questions asked satisfaction guarantee.

(Note: Do not use for ozonating olive oil. This does not bubble ozone, it infuses it directly into water, so you cannot use it with oil as the unit needs water to produce ozone.)

Leaving our (Water) Mark on Saraburi, Thailand

Where in the World is Roving Blue?

Roving Blue was demonstrated to members of the Thai Military yesterday at Fort Adisorn, a Thai military base in Saraburi, Thailand. They were not familiar with Ozone at all, but very much liked the taste aspect of the water. The MVP unit passed military bacterial water testing with flying colors.
